Such intensity, the only critism I have is that I wish we could see the disc to which he is concentrating on. But then again you can't get them all can you and also your shot is about the eyes. Well done. These shots aren't easy espcially at full manual.
Otokpa: I had otheres with both players and the puck but wanted to focus on the eyes. But without the fact that I wanted eyes, I would agree with you. I like the other shot better.
But often times the players lock on each other even before the ref. produces or shows the puck.
I like my pictures to be what I have in mind... often times the camera has it's own ideas. Hence the need to shoot full manual. Thanks.
Nice colours, great pose - look at all that concentration. Might I suggest cropping a bit of the right side to make the composition even more interesting? At the moment the person is a bit too much in the center.
Otokpa: I'm with you on the crop... I'm not big on dead center subjects either but sometimes we miss these things. Thanks for the tip.
Good shot, I like how you have managed to capture the emotion
Otokpa: Thank you. As vicious as hockey is... it's an emotional sport. They realise it can very quickly get out of hand so players get taken out for some time they moment they commit a "foul" on another player.
woooooh he looks scary. yet focussed. they say, 'grr, lemme at 'im'. what team is this? i miss ice hockey matches. especially the donuts.
Otokpa: It's a college hockey game. Shot from the corner right at the glass. So you like hockey? I've never had donuts at a hockey game... just pizza - that's all they every buy for us press folks. *sigh*
You can't tell me that the D200 is a big jump from the D70! I have to keep my eyes and ears away from you guys and live in a world that tells me the D70 is all I need for now and the forseeable future! I'm really glad you're enjoying the new cam; I look forward to seeing some more of your shots from the D200. -Brent
Otokpa: LOL... Just being honest but I should also say that the D70 is way more camera than most can handle as well. So don't feel the need to jump out and upgrade...
The bottom line is the photographer makes the shot, the camera is just the tool... kind of like a painter and his canvas. :-D

contrary to everyone else i would have liked more of an expression on his face, perhaps frowning directly at the camera.....however this said you can't control that even with a D200
